Our Building Surveying department is nearing completion of project managing the design and refurbishment of Hall Farmhouse near Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.
The Farmhouse, built in 1902, has been un-occupied since 1962. However, when he inherited the estate in the early 1980's, the client made the important decision to maintain the building in a weather tight and sound condition, including laying a new roof. This pro-active approach has resulted in many of the original intermnal details being retained in sound condition, which has saved significantly on repair and replacement costs.
The refurbishment works will bring the house back to its previous splendour and include cast iron radiators, leaded lights, matching walnut fittings and the original kitchen range. The colour scheme chosen by the client uses Heritage paint to maintain the Edwardian throughout.
The works include the installation of a purpose-built grey water system, designed by Fisher German, which re-uses water for non-potable purposes such as lavatory cisterns and outside taps. The grey water is fed from natural springs and is pumped up to the house by a refurbished hydraulic ram, originally installed in the 1920s.
The property is being let through our Market Harborough office (01858 410200). The building Surveying department can be contacted on 01530 412821.
