A fervent auction room witnessed a most exhilarating bidding battle for the much sought after Blandys farm at Letcombe Regis, being offered for sale by Fisher German property consultants.
The auction, led by Paul Clayson of Fisher German and held at The Bear Hotel in Wantage, saw a full room become involved in a buzzing auction which resulted in Blandys farm advance from a £550,000 guide price to a purchase price of £900,000.
In farming terms this equates to a staggering £5,127 an acre.
Auctioneer and partner Paul Clayson states “this was a phenomenal result which surprised most in the room and was mainly down to a lack of alternative agricultural investment available and very strong commodity prices”.
John Palmer also a partner at Fisher German added “there were a number of interested parties including long term investors such as Oxford colleges, the existing tenant and interest from local business individuals”
Fisher German sold Blandys farm on behalf of Cancer Research and The British Heart Foundation who were gifted the property. The sale offered an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a tenanted arable farm of approximately 150 acres, as well as a good range of farm buildings within a yard complex. An additional block of approximately 25 acres of permanent pasture with vacant possession was also purchased in the sale.
