With Planning Consent for eight residential units totalling 15,600 sq feet, the South facing design incorporates extensive glazed panelling and three storey elevations with ever changing views across the river to countryside beyond. Private decking overlooks the marina berths, and the height of the banks of the Avon ensures that the bridging to the floating walkways, makes for easy access.
Richard Hutcheon of the selling agents Fisher German comments, “the sale will complete this phase of the residential development surrounding Basin two of the Marina and comes at a time of major investment in the expansion of the Marina and its facilities. It is intended to upgrade the basin fronting this development, to a similar standard of The Quarter and Basin one. Standing at the confluence of the Rivers Avon and Severn, Tewkesbury Marina is an excellent base for cruising the inland waterway network.”
With 400 berths, chandlery and brokerage, in addition to local bars, shops and restaurants, Richard Hutcheon adds, “The Marina is a jewel in Tewkesbury’s crown, an expanding town in a wonderful riverside setting”. The regency spa town of Cheltenham and the Cathedral cities of Gloucester and Worcester are also no more than 15 miles away.

Tewkesbury Marina – Expansion Plans
Tewkesbury Marina is undergoing a renaissance with a one million pound investment in state of the art floating moorings undertaken in a refurbishment and expansion programme running from 2006 to 2008.
A new development, known as The Quarter, stretches for a quarter of a mile along both sides of the Avon and provides 70 new moorings. One of the existing basins has also been updated to provide 120 moorings using the latest floating pontoon technology.
Mark Cottrell the Managing Director of Tewkesbury Marina explains “as modern boat designs and boat shapes have changed we now find that we need to replace some of the 30 year old pontoons with new style moorings which will allow berthing of boats at the Marina all year round. As a result we will be able to increase moorings capacity at Tewkesbury Marina to over 400, and cater for a wider range of boat design and size”
The recent flooding demonstrated just how effective the new floating jetties are in responding to varying river levels and rising flood waters. All boats stayed secure and safe during the rapid rise and fall in river levels. None of the 30 houses which were built in the previous phases were affected either by the July floods.
The design features of this impressive Marina standing close to the centre of the riverside town ensure that it blends unobtrusively into the surrounding countryside.
Mark Cottrell continues “boats are a large investment and can now be left unattended by their owners for long periods in secure berths and on moorings in safe surroundings”.
Walcon the contractors who have carried out the first stage of the marina work have been responsible for similar projects in Cowes and Dubai where the design has proved particularly successful. As part of the river improvements, plans are also being drawn up for a new lock which will improve access to the river and the marina, and may offer scope to install a turbine to provide a renewable power supply.
