Single Payment Scheme update

18/11/2005

Farmers in England should brace themselves for another information booklet on the Single Payment Scheme from the Rural Payments Agency (RPA).The RPA has produced an October update on Single Payment Scheme (SPS) issues, which details more of the policy underpinning the SPS and gives information on how it will be implemented.

Andrew Ranson points out, "The update will provide information on transfers of entitlements and calculating set-aside from 2006 onwards. It will also include information that may be particularly relevant

to growers of short rotation coppice and Miscanthus or other permanent crops grown on set-aside for non-food uses.  These growers have until 16 December 2005 to amend their SPS application forms, to take advantage of recent changes to the eligibility rules for claiming the Single Payment on land growing permanent crops, multi-annual crops and energy crops.

For advice on the SPS please contact Andrew Ranson on 01295 271555 to be put through to your nearest Fisher German specialist.
