Newly elected President of Agricultural Valuers talks about helping farmers think out-of-the-box…
The key to increasing farm and rural estate incomes is to unlock the true value of your property assets, according to the new president of the Cheshire branch of Agricultural Valuers Richard Baker.
Mr Baker, a valuer with Fisher German’s Knutsford office since September 2004, was elected to his new post on Wednesday 15 November.
“Our role as agricultural valuers is constantly changing as we encompass a broader spectrum of work each year,” he said.
“Many valuers including myself are getting more and more involved with both residential and commercial property development as landowners and farmers seek to diversify and maximise their property assets.”
This emphasis on a multi-disciplinary approach to property has been a key aspect in the way Fisher German has helped farmers and landowners sustain or even boost incomes, as returns from farming have dwindled, maintained Mr Baker.
It is important that farmers recognise the diversity and value of the services agricultural valuers can offer, as well as their ability to help with form-filling, he added.
“My job is very rewarding, despite the ever-increasing burden of government bureaucracy and inept processing of EU support schemes which we have to work with.”
