Jonathan Landale and Kate Williams of Fisher German LLP Market Harborough Office have been actively resurrecting the East Midlands Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) Self Help Group over recent months. The group was first established over ten years ago to assist unqualified APC candidates both in obtaining training and networking with agents across the region. Unfortunately the pressures of work and in particular the introduction of the Single Payment Scheme in 2005 led to the groups decline.
In March 2006 the process of resurrection began, with the management of the APC Self Help Group being brought back to Fisher German. The group now has over 35 members from across over 15 different firms throughout the
The group is organised by APC students for APC students with training days being organised by different members of the group. The group allows members to learn about areas of the industry in which their particular office or firm is not currently involved, thereby broadening the experience available to trainees in preparation of their final assessment. The group also provides an ideal chance to network with candidates from other companies and to share advice and tips.
Several further days are already in the pipeline on topics including farm valuation, livestock auctions and landlord and tenant law.
