Fisher German organised a day for DEFRA to invite interested parties to look at Environmental Stewardship on The Edmondthorpe Estate, near Melton Mowbray. This Estate is unique in that the owner, Mr A J P Pochin, has placed conservation at the top of his requirements for the 2,500 acres he owns. The delegates were shown how the farm has been carefully managed for conservation by Mr Pochin, his gamekeeper, Trevor Ash, and by Richard Sanders and Louise Montgomerie of Fisher German LLP, who Mr Pochin employs as Estate Managers.
Previously, the Estate was entered into the national Purdey Award and earned second place. These conservation measures have resulted in 152 pairs of wild grey partridge from nothing, and a large increase in other birds, such as most breeds of native owls, herons, kingfishers and songbirds.
