Fisher German celebrate more auction success

26/10/2006

ChacombeBanbury Rural Property Consultants Fisher German are celebrating more auction success after selling four out of the five lots offered to a packed room at the Banbury Cricket Club on 25 October 2006.

First under the hammer was a highly attractive Grade II Listed cottage in the heart of Chacombe. The property offered huge potential to create a very smart village house. Matthew Allen of Fisher German commented that ‘We had a huge amount of interest in this property with a lot of people very keen to take on such a project. It’s the classic scenario that there are so few of these about that when they come up people clamour to get their hands on them.’ The property with a guide price of £275,000 to £300,000 eventually sold to a local purchaser for £350,000.

The second and possibly most surprising lot was 3.65 acres and a small range of buildings on the edge of Hook Norton. The property was offered with a guide price of £70,000 and ended up selling for a staggering £176,000.  Auctioneer Charles Haselwood commented that ‘This exceeded all of our expectations, especially when you actually look at what you get for your money.’  Speaking with the purchaser afterwards he explains that ‘It was just what they were looking for and there simply hasn’t been anything else in the area.’

Other lots to sell well were 8.26 acres at Moreton Pinkney guided at £50,000 and selling for £59,000 and an unusual sliver of land running alongside the A34 at Islip, near Oxford guided at £20,000 and selling for £27,000. Auctioneer Andrew Ranson commented that ‘It was difficult to actually value something as unusual as this, but I think £27,000 is a good result.’

The strong prices achieved last week yet again prove how successful selling property by auction can be.  Fisher German are already lining up their next collective sale to be held in Towcester on the 5th December. This will mainly be consisting of blocks of paddock and grassland but further entries are still being taken and the next auction in Banbury is likely to be in January.
