Dumbleton Auction Result

27/05/2006

The old estate officeThe sale of The Old Estate Yard, Dumbleton for £290,000 near Evesham was greeted with warm applause in a packed auction room on Thursday evening (25th May 2006).

Anthony Mayell of Fisher German’s Dumbleton office commented “We received wide-ranging interest for this quarter acre site with planning permission for a 3/4 bedroom detached house, from our local and national marketing campaign.  Dumbleton as a village, has many qualities, including a fine Norman church, primary school, local shop and cricket club, but perhaps being able to build a new home in a Conservation Area and at the heart of the village was the principal attraction.”

It may have taken 47 bids in a determined tussle but the site was eventually knocked down to a Cheltenham based family who will undertake the development as a self-build project.  The vendors, a family who have owned property in the village for many years, were absolutely delighted with the outcome

Anthony Mayell concludes, “It is interesting that Fisher German sold a similar sized building plot in the village three years ago.  This result shows a 40% increase in value.  During a period when the general housing market has begun to steady, some individual building plots, particularly in unspoilt rural town and village locations, have continued to rise sharply in price.”
